Elphage Allemand Of Andrus Cove Dies This Morning
Jennings, La. – Elphage Allemand, a resident of the Andrus Cove settlement for 50 years, died this morning at the Jennings American Legion Hospital, where he had been a patient for five days. He had suffered a lengthy illness, and death came at 3 a.m.
Mr. Allemand was born in Breaux Bridge on August 9,1887 and was 74 years of age. He had farmed for many years but was retired.
The body will lie at his home in Andrus Cove until time of services 9 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake Arthur. Rev. Harry Pelous will conduct the services.
Mr. Allemand is survived by his wife; four sons, Elridge of Andrus Cove; Selridge of Moss Point, Miss.; Sandies of Lake Arthur; and Ranzy (Ramsey) of Lake Arthur.
He is also survived by four daughters, Mrs. David Martin of Jennings; Mrs. Mary Burnett of Port Arthur, Texas; Mrs. Mable Webb of Groves, Texas; and Mrs. Theresa Cates of Vancleave, Miss.; 18 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Burial will be in Andrus Cove Cemetery with Miguez Funeral Home in charge.
