George Mathisen
Funeral services for George Mathisen, 93, of Denver, formerly of the Brighton-Fort Lupton area were August 15 at Rice Chapel. He died August 12th, 1984 at the Brighton Care Center.
He was born July 20, 1891 in Golden, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Hans Mathisen. He came to the Brighton-Fort Lupton area in 1901 from Golden, Colorado.
On June 8, 1929 he married Myrtle Jensen in Boulder. She died in 1971. He served in the United States Army during World War I and was a member of the Last Man's Club and the American Legion.
Survivors included sons, James and George Mathisen of Brighton and Earl Mathisen of Wiggins; daughters, Arlene Morrow of Brighton, Judy Mountfort of Westminster and Glenda Heil of Denver. At the time of his death he had 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchilden.
He had one brother, Walter, and 5 sisters - Katie Sorensen, Emma Scott, Marie Sandlin, Anna Edstrom and Trine Hansen.
The Rev. Clifford L. Scott officiated at the services, pallbearers were Steve Morrow, Scott Morrow, Dwain Conger, Brad Mountfort, Mark Mathisen and Danny Heil.
Honorary Pallbearers were David Mathisen, Wayne Mathisen, Stuart Morrow, Bart Mathisen, Tom Mountfort and Steve Durgan. Interment was in Elmwood Cemetary.
