INDEPENDENCE
Homer P. Cain, 71, of Independence, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2004, in Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Iowa City, following a short illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Calvary Evangelistic Center, Independence, by the Rev. William Hill. Burial: Mount Hope Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday at White Funeral Home, Independence, with a military service at 7 p.m.
Survivors include his wife, Sherill; two daughters, Margaret Obagi of Tustin, Calif., and Holy Lolagne of Middletown, N.Y.; four stepdaughters, Sharon Lee of Hiawatha, Rebecca Timmer of Waterloo, Michele Mahler of Warsaw, Ind., and Seena Irvine of Independence; and two stepsons, Kent Young Jr. and Terry Young, both of Independence.

INDEPENDENCE - Homer P. Cain, 71, of Independence, died following a short illness, Tuesday, November 9, 2004, at V. A. Medical Center in Iowa City.
Homer was born on November 26, 1932, in Ottumwa, the son of Robert Emmett and Margaret Ann (Chandler) Cain. He attended the Ottumwa Schools. During the Korean Conflict he served with the U.S. Army. On December 31, 1976, he and the former Sherill Jeane Coventry were married at the Calvary Evangelistic Center in Independence. Mr. Cain was a cement finisher until he retired in 1992. Beginning in 1998, he was a bus driver for the RTC bus for five years.
He is survived by his wife, Sherill; two daughters, Margaret "Missy" (Tito) Obagi of Tustin, Calif., Holly (Pilippe) Lolange of Middletown, NY; four step-daughters, Sharon Lee of Hiawatha, Rebecca Timmer of Waterloo, Michele (Joshua) Mahler of Warsaw, Ind., Seena (Cid, Jr,.) Irvine of Independence; two step-sons, Kent D. (Shari) Young, Jr., Terry L. Young, both of Independence; and 16 grandchildren.
Homer was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Fred Cain and Robert Cain, Jr.; one sister, Mary Lou Hoecke; one Crystal Cain and one grandson.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 13, 2004, at Calvary Evangelistic Center in Independence, with Rev. William F. Hill officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Independence.
White Funeral Home of Independence is in charge of the arrangements.

Casket bearers were John Cain, Bryan Cain, Calvin Cain, Neil Higdon, Tim Williams, and John Willard, Sr.
Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Independence.
