Alford, Thelma Lindsey—She retired from the Louisiana Department of Revenue, was a resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Kentwood. Thelma passed away Friday, Sept. 16, 2011, at her home. She was 88.

Visitation at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., on Monday, Sept. 19, from 10 a.m. until service time at noon, conducted by the Rev. Mike Ferguson. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park.

Thelma is survived by a daughter Sandra "Sue" Alford Wiggins; son, Layton H. Alford Jr.; grandson, Bryan P. Alford; and a great-granddaughter, Kalie Wiggins.

Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, Layton Alford Sr.; and two granddaughters, Tammy M. Stephens and Sheryl S. Fontenot.

Thelma was a charter member of Lanier Baptist Church. Special thanks to Nettie Guedon and the staff of Hospice of Baton Rouge. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lanier Baptist Church or Hospice of Baton Rouge.
