STUARTS DRAFT - Raymond Austin Campbell, 61, of Route 2, Box 294, Stuarts Draft, was pronounced dead on arrival at Waynesboro Community Hospital on Wednesday.
He was born in Nelson County on March 29, 1916, a son of the late A. Dewey and Robbie Blanche Truslow Campbell.
He was a former truck driver with Blue Ridge Dunbrick Co. in Waynesboro. He was a member of the Full Gospel Pentecostal Church in Stuarts Draft.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mabel Nannie Fitzgerald Campbell; two sons, Kenneth A. Campbell of Stuarts Draft and Jerry W. Campbell of Route 2, Waynesboro; three daughters, Mrs. T. Ray (Christine) Meeks of Fishersville, Mrs. Merritt A. (Linda) Liptrap of Stuarts Draft and Mrs. Warren L. (Janet) Johnson of Route 2, Staunton; and 11 grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel of the Etter Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Dennis L. Bradley and the Rev. Mitchell V. Scott, with interment in Mountain Top Christian Church Cemetery, Love.
Active pallbearers will be Carl East, M. B. Mays, Hansel Kelly, Ward L. Cohron, Louie L. Liptrap, Ralph Fitzgerald, Vernon Driver and Paul Coffey.
Honorary pallbearers will be Henry Lipscomb, Charles Baker, Thomas A. Fitzgerald, Huey Mullins, Russell Hewitt, Claude G. Fitzgerald, Raymond Simmons, Fabin Hewitt, Boyd Robertson and Junior Bradley.
The body will remain at the Etter Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight.
