Melvin Adkins
LYNCO — Melvin Adkins, 70, of Lynco, went home on Thursday, June 10, 2010, in General Division of CAMC, Charleston, W.Va.
He was born May 13, 1940, in Clay County, W.Va., a son of the late Alva Paris and Clara McKinney Adkins.
He was a retired equipment operator.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Fonda Woods; four brothers, Tommy, Alonzo, Ray and James Adkins.
Survivors include his loving wife of almost 50 years, Burnia Jean Woods Adkins; three daughters, Judy Kay Adkins of Lynco, Julie Karen Blevins and companion Ralph Kenneda of Cedar Creek, W.Va., and Jolene Kathy Holstein and husband Pat of Lynco; a son, Damon Adkins of Summersville, W.Va.; a sister, Genevie Woods of Summersville; a brother, Robert "Bobby" Adkins of Clay; seven grandchildren, Misty Skinner, Brandon Blevins, Anthony Holstein, Haley Blevins, Austin Holstein, Kiesha Holstein and Kamika Holstein; two great-grandsons, Richard and Dustin Skinner; and a host of other loving family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, June 13, 2010, in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, with Rev. Johnny Jones and Rev. Randall Topping officiating. Melvin will be laid to rest in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, W.Va.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
