George an eight year veteran of the US Marine Corps, the son of George M. Beasley and Julia H. Beasley of Montgomery AL, and the husband of Judy B. Beasley of Greenville AL, arrived in Vietnam on June 12, 1969 and was assigned to Company A, 1st Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st MARDIV (Rein) FMF.
In the early morning hours of June 15 a hostile M-79 projectile was fired at a Marine ambush position located south of the Duc Hoa village complex in Dai Loc District. The exploding round wounded SSgt Beasley and he was evacuated for treatment to DaNang. Requiring additional treatment he was transferred to the USAF Hospital at Clark AFB Philippine Islands where he died as a result of the multi fragmentation wounds he had sustained.
