She was one of five children born to Frank and Ella Smith, her parents and siblings have preceded her in death.
She was married to the Rev. Gordon Abrams, who was the pastor of several churches in Pennsylvania, including the First Baptist of New Bethlehem and Kittanning. He preceded her in death in December 1977.
As a pastor's wife, Mrs. Abrams was active in American Baptist Women of Pennsylvania where she served as president. After her husband retired, they moved to Sun City, Ariz. where Mrs. Abrams continued to live for the next 30 years. She moved to Edgewood Heights in New Bethlehem where she lived out her remaining years and died March 7, 2013, at the age of 100 years, one month.
The couple had five children, Daniel (Clarie) of Bozeman, Mont., Donna Shoemaker of New Bethlehem, Bud (Jan) of New Port Richey, Fla., Sharon (Dick) of San Diego, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her parents, husband and siblings, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Patterson.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 6, 2013, at the First Baptist Church in New Bethlehem.
Arrangements are at the direction of the Rupert Funeral Home and Cremation Service of New Bethlehem.
