My gg-uncle Elisha L. W. Curtis was the son of Moses Curtis and Elizabeth Blackshear Curtis. Elisha was the grandson of Elisha Blackshear (1790-1840) and Mary Grimes; he was the gr-grandson of Jesse Blackshear (1757-1803) and Hannah Huggins who came in the Dillihunty Migration from Jones County, NC to Davidson & Williamson County, Tennessee about 1795. Jesse Blackshear's Will was probated in Williamson County, Tennessee in 1803. Elisha L. W. Curtis was the gg-grandson of Elisha Stout Blackshear (1736-1810) and Susannah Ward.

On December 26, 1867, Elisha L. W. Curtis married Lucinda E. Russell in Old Tishomingo County, Mississippi (record in Marriages in Alcorn County, Mississippi, Book #7, 1867-1872, p. 83). Elisha's brother Robert Curtis married Lucinda's sister Martha Russell on May 14, 1868. Lucinda and Martha Russell were the daughters of William Armistead Russell and wife Evaline (maiden name either Peak or Dukes) who are buried in the Russell Cemetery, Maud, Colbert County, Alabama.

Elisha L. W. Curtis and his wife Lucinda E. Russell were the parents of six children:

1. Geneva Curtis b. 1869 Tishomingo Co, Miss., died 1933 Grayson County, Texas; married M. Wesley Sanders on Jan. 17, 1898 in Prentiss County, Mississippi; they are buried Mount Zion Cemetery, Whiteburg, Grayson County, Texas; Geneva's Find A Grave Memorial #41778574.

2. George Marion Curtis, b. 1870 Tishomingo Co, Miss., d. 1947, Dyersburg, Dyer County, Tenn. He married Nancy Edna Michels. They are buried at Poplar Grove Cemetery, Highway 77, Newbern, Dyer County, Tenn.

3. John Lewis Curtis, b. 1875 Lauderdale Co, Alabama, died 1951 Mississippi. He married Louella D. "Ella" Griggs. They are buried Kirkville Cemetry, Kirkville, Itawamba Co, Miss, as CURTISS, John L. and Luella G. See Find A Grave Memorial #70927408.

4. Martha Curtis, b. about 1884 Miss. She was enumerated as age 26, single, living at home with her parents on the 1910 federal census taken April 30, 1910, in Saltillo Precinct, Lee County, Miss.

5. Jettey Curtis, b. about 1886 Miss. She was enumerated as age 14, single, living with her parents and siblings on the 1900 federal census taken June 23, 1900 Blackland Precinct, Prentiss Co, Miss.

6. Lucinda Curtis, b. about 1888 Miss. She was enumerated as age 12, living with her parents and siblings on the 1900 federal census taken June 23, 1900 Blackland Precinct, Prentiss Co, Miss.

Curtis who is buried -- along with a child Curtis C. Williams (relationship as yet is unknown ) -- in a brick vault at Jumpertown Church of Christ Cemetery, Jumpertown, Prentiss County, Mississippi:
