He was a 52 yr member of the Knox Volunteer Fire Company, where he was a member of the fire police.
He served as Clarion County treasurer for the fire police for 16 years and was a member of the Knox Business Assoc for more than 20 years.
He was a 32nd Degree Mason and was a 50-year member of the Edenburg Lodge No. 550 of Knox.
He served on the Advisory Board of Mellon bank, the Horsethief planning Committee, and was Knox Borogh tax colector for 36 years.
He was past commander of the Knox American Legion and honored in 1998 as "Citizen of the Year" by the Horsethief committee.
