Denny Baker was preceded in death by his parents, Jonas "Junior" Baker, Jr. and Helen Marcella "Baby" Hall, both of whom were native to Utica, Clark, Indiana. Denny, too, maintained a life-long residence in Utica. Indiana.

With Denny's passing, he left the following relatives: his one and only spouse, Barbara A. York, of Utica, Indiana; his sister, Donna Kay Baker Riggle, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, who recently (2015) moved to Florida; and his half-sister, Sharon Rose Broy Hess, of Utica, Indiana. Denny did not have any children, but he did have several nieces, nephews. and lots of cousins.

Dennis was a 1970 graduate of Jeffersonville High School. He served as a volunteer fireman with the Utica Volunteer Fire Department for 44 years, and as his father did before him, who also served as chief. Denny was a member of the Indiana Volunteer Fireman's Association, and a member of the Utica Baptist Church. Dennis retired from the Clark County Highway Department where he was an equipment operator. He was also retired from JeffBoat, Jeffersonville, Indiana.

Denny quietly passed away at his residence with his wife by his side after a long illness on the evening of 10 November 2015. Funeral arrangements were made with E. M. Coots' Sons Funeral Home of Jeffersonville, Indiana. Burial was in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Utica, Indiana, where he was buried near his parents. The Utica Volunteer Fire Department transported Denny's casket on a fire truck to the cemetery from Jeffersonville, Indiana. Denny was 65. The funeral and grave-side service was held on 14 November 2015
