Robert was the son of James R. and Martha "Patsy" Mobley
Walling. He was born in Warren County or White County Tenn.
James R. moved to Houston County Texas settling in the Daly Community in 1838.
By 1860 Robert was working in the Old Union or Livelyville community in Houston Co, Texas as an overseer for R.S. Pridgen and wife Elizabeth on their farm. When the Civil War started he and brother Hosea joined up with Capt. R.S. Pridgen's Co. 5th Reg't, Texas Mounted Vols, on Oct 22, 1861 at Elkhart, Texas. He was officially Mustered into Service on Oct 30, 1861, San Antonio, Texas. Signed up from Dec. 31, 1861 to April 30, 1862.
Robert's papers says he died of Pneumonia on March 11, 1862, at Socorro County, New Mexico at "The Battle of Valverde".
No record of wife or children.
