Paul Bradford, 84, of Niota, died Saturday, June 16, 2007, at Athens Regional Medical Center.

A native of Calhoun, and a lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was a son of the late Chester and Georgia Pierce Bradford, and was preceded in death by one brother, David Bradford.

During his teenage years, he played baseball for Calhoun High School and later joined the U.S. Army and served in World War II. While in the Army, he received the Purple Heart and the Good Conduct Medal. In 1947, he purchased the Jolly Cab Company in Athens and operated it until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of Marshall Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Pauline Hafley of Niota; one son, Jerry Bradford of Carlton, Ohio; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; two nieces, both of Chattanooga; and several cousins

Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at Ziegler Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Davis officiating. Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Riceville Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Paul Bradford, 84, of Niota, died Saturday, June 16, 2007, at Athens Regional Medical Center.
