Born November 10, 1919 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Matthew McBlain Thomson and Lola Emelia Schwartz. Married Eugene Duerden Piepgrass November 6, 1940 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary by being sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Eugene passed away December 26, 1998.
Virginia attended Salt Lake County schools. She was Administrator and part owner of Bountiful Nursing Home for over 16 years. She was a lifelong and active Auxiliary member of the American Legion - George R. Day Post #79 in Bountiful, serving in many different capacities including Auxiliary President. She was a member of the Bountiful Charter Chapter, American Business Women of America. She also loved to travel and served as Utah State Director Assistant of the Good Sam Travel Club for four years.
She was an active member of the LDS church serving in many callings over the years. She had many caring friends and neighbors and was loved by everyone.
Survived by her daughters, Jean (Jerry) George of Roy, Marian (Harry) Lord of Bountiful, Barbara (Jim) Williams of Alpine, Janet (Dan Thunderhorse) Piepgrass of Ogden; 13 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 4 great, great grandchildren; her sister Margaret (Leo) Hardy and brother Matthew "Nink" (Clara) Thomson. Preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Howard World, Lola Messerly, Helen Thomson and Robert "Bob" Thomson.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the Bountiful 11th Ward Chapel, 115 Wicker Lane (20th South and Orchard Drive). Friends may call Monday, February 27 from 6 to 8 pm at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 N. Main and Tuesday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment, Bountiful City Cemetery.
