Thomas N Brown
Thomas Nesmith Brown aged 78 years, for many years a greenhouse operator in Uniontown and Hopwood, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Phoebe Glick of Coolspring Street, Saturday morning, January 19, 1929. Mr Brown was born in Uniontown on December 27, 1856, and entered the greenhouse business in early life. The last greenhouse he operated was located at Highland avenue and Union street extension. Mr. Brown developed a hobby for collecting and several years ago presented a collection of insects to the Benjamin Franklin Junior High school. He also had a collection of minerals which he presented the school together with a number of art object.
In addition to his daughter, Mr Brown is survived by his widow, Mrs Louise Malone Brown and three grandchildren: Mrs William Spencer, Cleveland, Ohio, and Thomas and Clarence Glick of Uniontown. A daughter, Florence Weaver Richardson, preceded him in death.
Mr Brown was a member of the Second Methodist Protestant church where funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 3'oclock. Burial will be in the Hopwood cemetery.
Please note the birth date on stone and birth date in paper differ. In the 1900 Census, Thomas records birthdate as Dec 1851. All other census record birth to be about 1851. Stone & Census calculate death at about age 78 which agrees with obituary. Tombstone death date looks like 1925, but close up, it also looks like 1929.
