In 1920 she and her parents and sister lived on a poultry farm they owned, with a mortgage, in Rochester Township, Andrew County, MO.

In 1940 she and her husband and their two daughters lived in a house they were renting for ten dollars a month in Helena, MO. Vernon worked as a depot agent for a steam railway, with an income in 1939 of $125 for 50 weeks of work.

In 1950 she and Vernon and their three children lived in probably the same house, which was on B Street. He worked as a parts clerk for an automobile company.
