Oakdale TN - Services will be tonight for Georgia Mae Bingham Byrge, who
served as jailer and deputy sheriff of Morgan County during the 1930's.
Byrge, 82, died Friday at her Morgan County home in Oakdale. She was known to many as "Mrs Pete".
Her husband, H E "Pistol Pete" Byrge, was sheriff of Morgan County for 19 years.
Georgia Byrge served as interim sheriff for two months when he became ill. She once
said she could track down outlaws who eluded her husband and make arrests without a gun. A son; Cecil Byrge, was sheriff of Morgan County for eight years.
Services will be tonight at 8:30 at Schubert Funeral chapel in Wartburg.
