Son of Thomas E. Bovey Sr and Margery Grace Golden. Three sons were born to this union, with Thomas E. being the oldest; Richard Orion (1945 - ) and David John (1947-1999)
Baptism at Bethany Lutheran Church on July 23, 1946, sponsored by his aunt and uncle, Elmer and Carolyn Kirchner, brother and sister.
Graduated from Calumet High School, Chicago, Illinois in June of 1960. Entered Upper Iowa University in Fayette, Iowa and was in the "Who's Who Among Students in America's Universities and Colleges" in 1963 -1964; president of the Letterman's Club; co-captain of the varsity football team; Dean's List- 1964; member of the Young Executives Club and Young Republicans Club. Graduated May 25, 1964. Immediately hired by The Associates Investment Company to start a 14 month Management Trainee program in Gary, Indiana in June 1964. With five months of training remaining, Tom became their Collection Manager within the same branch and later transferred to a larger branch office located in Elkhart, Indiana because of his ability to reduce delinquency by 65%.
Married Marcia Faye Anderson Sept 12, 1964 at St. Paul's Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. With the Vietnam War escalating, being married was not enough from keeping one away from the draft. Basic training was spent at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. After completing basic training, he was immediately transferred to Heidelberg, Germany where he worked in the Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, - Personnel, and was responsible for processing Officer assignments throughout Europe. When MS was detected, Tom as sent back to the states to Fitzsimons Army Medical Center in Aurora, Colorado, where he received an honorable discharge in August of 1968. Choosing to take a few months to relax and travel, before returning to South Bend, Indiana where he started working as Controller for Council for the Retarded of St. Joseph County, Inc. Through Tom's excellent business skills, a small $600,000 business became a $2.4 million operation through his directions until his death on April 2, 1980.
Tom was giving a full military burial, and the American flag that was presented to his widow was given to the newly built Council for the Retarded which Tom helped oversee. The flag stands in the front lobby of that building.

He was the controller for the Council for the Retarded of St Joseph County and Logan Industries. He was instrumental in the financial planning of the new Logan Industries building, which is being built.
Bovey was born on June 18, 1942 in Tomahawk, Wisconsin, and lived in South Bend since 1967. On Sept 12, 1964, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, he married Marcia Anderson. She survives with a daughter, Kimberly, at home; his father, Thomas E. Bovey Sr. of Lexington, Kentucky and two brothers, Richard of Lafayette, Indiana and David of Oak Lawn, Illinois .
