Melvin James Achterhof, aged 78, of Holland, died Tuesday, August 10, 1993 at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor. He owned and operated the Bos Tobacco & Candy Company for 30 years, then worked at the C&C Railroad office until his retirement. He is survived by his loving wife, Claretta; his children, Ben and Jerry Fryling of Grandville, Karyl and Bert Van Dis of Zeeland, Pat and Jack De Witt, Vicki Sterkne and Cristi and Glenn Vander Ploeg, all of Holland; 12 grandchildren. Funeral services are Friday, 3:00p.m. at the 14th Street Christian Reformed Church (14th and Central-Holland). Visitation will be 2 to 3 p.m.prior to service. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Wedgewood Acres Christian Youth Home or Hospice of Holland. Arrangements are by the Mulder Chapel, Dykstra Funeral home, 188 W. 32nd Street, Holland.
