Ann Eliza was born January 16, 1838 in Sangamon County, Illinois a daughter of Peter and Elizabeth (Purvines) Lanterman. Ann came with her parents to DeWitt county, Illinois in 1853.

She married John Hunt Adams on September 12, 1858 in DeWitt County, Illinois. Owing to exposure, Ann contracted a sever cold, which developed into that dread disease, consumption, which caused her death, June 24, 1870.
