George Deschene, 50-year Holy Name man
George Deschene, 86, 11 north Lowell St., Methuen, a 50-year member of St. Theresa's Holy Name Society, died yesterday at the Lawrence General Hospital after a long illness.
He was born march 21, 1896 in St. Alexander, P.Q., Canada. Prior to his retirement, he was employed at the American Woolen co. in Lawrence for 40 years.
Besides his long time association with the Holy Name Society, he also held membership in the St. Jean Baptiste Society. He attended St. Theresa's Church, Methuen.
Surviving are four sons, Ludger of Lawrence, Ernest and Emile of Methuen, and George of Lowell; three daughters, Rita, wife of Herbert Kroitzch of Deerfield, N.H., Lillian, wife of Richard Mansfield of Ipswich, and Mrs. Blanche McIntosh of Methuen; two sisters, Mrs. Amie Duval of Fitchburg and Mrs. Helen Skillings of Riviere Bleue, P.Q., Canada; 19 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Saturday with a 10 a.m. con-celebrated Mass in St. Theresa's Church, Methuen. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Andover.
Calling hours at the Glen Forest Funeral Chapel, 165 Haverhill St., Methuen, are tomorrow from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
