Mrs. Vaughn wrote the following notes at the top of a very detailed family tree that she sent to my mother on August 2, 1983: "Robert J. Baker came from Missouri when 9 years old to Eugene, Oregon. He and wife Adelaide (that is, Adeline) came to Silvercreek area in 1876. She died at Fort Harney in 1877 or 1878 (1878) during the Indian War there. She was buried in the Harney cemetary.".
