Richard was born to Percy and Annie Dawe. He was their only son with two older sisters. In 1926, he went with his family to visit relations in England.

He was only in his twenty's when he enlisted in WWI. A relative told me he fought in France, but it could have been anywhere. He became missing in action. I don't know that his parents even had a body to bury, but undoubtedly a memorial was set where his parents are buried in Cadillac, MI.
