CHADDERTON. Robert L. Chadderton, 77, of Wagon Road, Enfield, widower of Arline (Sorenson) Chadderton, died Saturday (June 28) at home. Born in the Thompsonville section of Enfield, he was a lifetime resident of the community. Prior to his retirement, he was employed at the former Bigelow Sanford Carpet Co. 36 years, and with the Enfield Board of Education for 13 years. Bob was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II, serving with the 1st Marine Division on Guadalcanal, E. New Guinea, Cape Gloucester, New Britain, Peleliu, and Palau Islands. Bob was a member of the American Legion Post #80, 1st Marine Division Association, and AARP #3062. Bob was survived by a son and daughter-in-law Robert L. and Karen Chadderton, with whom he made his home; two grandchildren, Bernard and his wife, Sherry Pierce, Kristen and her fiance, Andrew Desrosier; a sister, Arlene Zirolli of Enfield; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were on Wednesday, 11 a.m., at the Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road. Burial was in St. Patrick's King Street Cemetery. His family received friends at the Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, Tuesday, 5-8 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the National Purple Heart Museum and Memorial Inc., P.O.
