Emily Paralee was the wife of Samuel Powell Davis. They are known to have had at least five children. Two, an infant daughter born in 1891, and another daughter, Pattie Walker Davis, who was born in 1894 and died in 1895, are buried in the New Hope Baptist Church cemetery next to their parents.
An obituary for Samuel Davis in the Shelbyville Gazette (July 8, 1909), stated that he was survived by a son, John Davis, and two daughters, Nannie and Nora Davis, all by his first wife. Samuel had married a second time and had additional children.
