Wife of Thompson Milton Blair, whom she married July 6, 1843, in Buchanan County, Missouri (Thompson is buried beside four of their six sons in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Mills County, Iowa), Sarah was the daughter of Zachariah Linville and Nancy Cash. Sarah and Thompson moved from Missouri to a farm in Mills County, Iowa, in 1854. The mother of eight children (William Linville, John Roger, Andrew Franklin, Thomas M., Salathael M., Byron Warner, Nancy Rebecca, and Almeda Evelyn), she was living with her daughter Nancy Rebecca Blair Smith (Mrs. George Smith) at the time of her death at the age of 88. Surviving her were four of her children, 23 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.[From her obituary]"In many respects she was a remarkable woman. Strong and rugged in bodily physique, she possessed enormous capabilities for work. To this was conjoined far more than ordinary endowments of good judgment, sound sense, and practical sagacity. Firm in her convictions of truth and duty, she feared the very appearance of evil, and held with unflinching integrity to the principles of righteousness." "Patient and forbearing, affectionate and devoted, gentle and true, constant and consistent, year in and year out, always to be depended on, never to fail; her life was rich with goodness, and filled up with a very full measure of deeds of kindness."
