William Linville Blair was the son of Thompson Milton Blair and Sarah Linville Blair. He married Sarah C. Brinson December 5, 1866, in Mills County. William enlisted in Company F. 15th Iowa Infantry on October 10, 1861, and reenlisted in the same Company January 1, 1864. William's company saw a lot of action. He was wounded at the Battle of Shiloh in 1862. After recovering, he re-enlisted in 1864 and served until mustering out July 24, 1865, having been briefly taken prisoner in early 1865 and released on parole. At time of mustering out, he had reached the rank of first corporal. Henderson Linville and Addison Utterback were in the same Company. William died young, probably from aftereffects of his military service. His marker is missing the top, the part where his name would have been; but the dates and other information on the marker make identification definite. His marker deserves restoration.

Sarah C. Blair, who was born July 28, 1846, died May 17, 1935, and is buried in Nickerson, Kansas, with her mother and father. William and Sarah had two children: Alice A. and Alfred Owen.
