Joseph C. "Joe" McMillin, 89, of Salinas, died peacefully Sunday, May 21, 2006, in the family home.

He was born Feb. 14, 1917, in New Castle, Pa. He was a retired general contractor. After retiring, he became an accomplished potter and studied the photographic arts. He spent his free time on woodworking projects. Joe devoted his life to his family.

He was preceded in death by his son, Daniel McMillin.

Military service:Served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Memberships:Joe was a member of the Carpenters Union

Survivors:Wife of 52 years, Jewel McMillan of the family home; daughter, Deborah McMillin of San Jose; son, Michael (& wife Caroline) McMillin of Salinas; brother, Jack McMillin of New Castle, Pa.; sister, Betty Sizemore of Elizabethton, Tenn.; grandchildren, Christina, Daniel, Joseph, Jason, Brian, Patrick and Mary; great-grandchildren Kaily and Isaac Joseph.


Services:A family celebration will be held at a later date.

Burial:Cremation directed by Healey Crematory Co., Salinas.
