Dr. Frank Ellsworth Allard was born on March 14, 1861 to Horatio P. Allard (1830-1863), a farmer in Wheelock, Vermont, and Harriet Lorenz Foster Allard (1840-1928). Following his father's death, he lived until the age of 17 with his mother's parents in Irasburgh, Vermont. In 1878 he moved to Hanover, New Hampshire, to live with his mother and stepfather. There he finished High School and in 1881 entered Dartmouth College, graduating in 1885. He taught for several years in Boston before being accepted into the Boston University School of Medicine. He continued teaching while in medical school, from which he graduated in 1892. That June Dr. Allard opened his own practice in Boston. Over the years he held a number of different positions, including physiology instructor at the Boston University School of Medicine, and medical director of the Boston Mutual Life Insurance Company. Dr. Allard was very active professionally. He was a member and at one time president of the American Association of Medical Examiners, and a member of the Boston Homeopathic Medical Society, the Massachusetts Homeopathic Medical Society, and the American Institute of Homeopathy. He was known for his strong opposition to vivisection and compulsory vaccination. He died in Wellesley on February 4, 1917 following a long battle with tuberculosis.

Frank Ellsworth Allard married Ada Eliza Booth (1865-1949), daughter of Samuel Slader Booth (1820-1886) and Mary Ann St. Clair Booth (1824-1903), in Norwich, Vermont on May 15, 1888. They had one child, Beatrice Allard Brooks (1893-1977).
