Obituary from the papers of Beatrice Pierce Misner: The Parkersburg Sentinel, Wednesday, May 21, 1969, Page 8. Funeral services for Mrs. Benjamin D. (Vannie) Davies, 98, of 3105 Murdoch Ave., who died about 5 p.m. Tuesday in the Powell Nursing Home, will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at the Vaughan Funeral Home, with the Rev. Gimmi officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Born in Racine, O., the daughter of the late Daniel and Susan McMillen Sayre, she had been a resident of this area for most of her life. Her late husband, Benjamin D. Davies and son L. D. Davies, had operated the Davies Photographic Studio in Parkersburg for many years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. Survivors include three daughte4rs, Mrs. Laurence V. Murphy and Mrs. Arthur Sweeney, both of Parkersburg, and Mrs. Edgar Drumel of Lima, O.; three grandchildren, Mrs. Alice Monroe, Mrs. James Hughes and Col. Arthur H. Sweeney; and four great-grandchildfren, Anna, Peter and Michael Hughes, and Arthur James Monroe. In addition to her husband and son preceding her in death, her son-in-loaw, Laurence (Larry) Murphy, died in February. She had made her home with him and her daughter for many years.
