Willis Clare Allen served as a Private in Company A, 42nd U.S. Infantry Regiment, 12th Infantry Division, United States Army during World War I.
He was originally from Charlevoix, Michigan.
WILLIS ALLEN, VETERAN, DIES
Willis C. Allen, 68, New Oxford R. 1, died at the Lebanon Veterans' Hospital at 12:20 Thursday afternoon. He had been in failing health since August.
A native of Charlevoix, Michigan, he was a son of the late William F. and Hattie (Ferguson) Allen and resided in Lansing, Michigan until moving to the New Oxford area three years ago.
He was a member of the Emory Methodist Church, New Oxford, and was retired. He was a veteran of World War I.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth (Shilling) Allen; three stepchildren, Joseph Matus, Middletown, New York; William J. Allen, Oxford, Michigan, and Miss Betty M. Allen, at home, and seven step-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 11:30 from the Feiser Funeral Home, New Oxford, with the Rev. Paul E. Birt, his pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the Gettysburg National Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday evening after 7 o'clock.
