End of Life Comes in 90th Year, After She Had Resided Near Carthage Since 1878

One of the oldest pioneer women of Jasper county died at 1:30 o'clock this afternoon when Mrs. Margaret Ale passed away at her home 5 1/2 miles northwest of this city at the age of 89 years. Death was due to an illness which began about Christmas time and which was caused by a tumor.
Mrs. Ale is the widow of Samuel Ale, an old and well known settler of Jasper county, who died seven years ago. Just 32 years ago Mr. and Mrs. Ale came to this county and death came to each at the old homestead.
On September 3, 1820 Mrs. Ale was born in Columbia county, Pennsylvania and until last December she was blessed with exceptionally good health. She has hosts of friends in this city and in the county around her home, and on her last birthday was given a surprise party by many of these friends.
Mrs. Ale is survived by four children - Clark M. Ale, William Ale, Miss Elizabeth Ale and Mrs. Anna Chilcoad, the latter residing in Columbia county, Pennsylvania besides number grandchildren and other relatives.
