Death: Dec. 24, 1931

Edward Elliott, known always as "Elliott" was the fifth of six children, by George W. Bolsinger and Anne Fisher. His siblings were Eliza Ann, George William Fisher, Elizabeth Ann, Newton Craft. His mother died when he was one and a half years old. His father remarried 17 months later to Sarah Coulter and had two more daughters, Mary Jane and Hester Brandon and a son named, John. (There is ongoing research to determine if a first John was born to Anne, but it is certain that a child was named John was born to Sarah. All these children were born in Fayette Co. PA. Elliott's father had been born there as well in a community called German Township. (See their links below for the family lore and the facts.)
George married Elizabeth Keener and in 1780 they came to Fayette Co. His son, John, the father of George W., was also born in Fayette and married an Elizabeth Higginbotham.
It is not yet known when Elliott came west but he married Frances Louise Armstrong, (daughter of Thomas Armstrong and Sarah Kernahan,), on Oct. 15, 1874 in Des Moines Iowa. They eventually settled in Burlington, Iowa where Elliott would find his life occupation as the Assistant Yardmaster for the Burlington Railroad. He was injured on this job and left with a limp and the need to use a cane.
They had five children, two which died early; Myrtle and Iva. The other three, George Elliott, Zetta Marcella and Raymond lived into adulthood.
On a visit to his son, George, in Washington state, Elliott's wife died during an operation on her gall bladder. He took her remains home for burial to Iowa, but returned to live out the last of his years with his son and his son's wife, Martha, and their two children, Melvin and Dorothy. His daughter, Marcella, also came to care for him in his last year of life. His remains were returned by train to Burlington for burial next to his wife.

Great grandpa, Thanks for the Little Blue note full of dates and names of your family. It was the starting place of my search. I hope you are proud of what I am doing to honor you and them. Love, Dona
