Mrs. Albrecht, 99, Jerico Springs, died Saturday. She was born to Charles and Laura Schaefer (who died in 1920 in an influenza epidemic) in Villa Park, Ill. She was raised by her father during the Depression years.
She attended schools in Elmhurst and Wheaton, Ill. She was hired by Illinois Bell Telephone Company when she was 20 and worked for them for eight years.
She married Walter Albrecht in 1943. After his discharge from the U.S. Army, they moved to the farm and raised three children-- Eva Riebold, Linda Albrecht, and John Albrecht.
Survivors include her grandchildren, Jamie Cahill, Johnna Burton, Keri Gonzalez, Rebecca Mathis, Joshua Noggle and Barry Riebold; and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter "Buck" Albrecht in 2007; her parents, Charles and Laura Schaefer; and a daughter Linda Albrecht.
Services are at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at Jerico Springs United Methodist Church under the direction of Brumback Funeral Home. Burial is in Zion Cemetery. Online condolences can be made at www.brumbackfuneralhome.com
