Bruce was born in his family home on February 28, 1932, in Circleville, Utah. He grew up with four sisters, one older and three younger. As a child he learned to be innovative and resourceful. Fixing and building things became a lifelong talent he willingly shared with others. From 1953-1955 he served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and upon his return was drafted into the US Army shortly before the end of the Korean Conflict. While in the Army he met Nadine Fowler. They were married February 8, 1957 in the Salt Lake Temple. Six children were born to them, four sons and two daughters.

Bruce's first priority was always to provide for his family. He graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in education. He also attended Law School for a time at the university. Over the years, he worked as a Social Worker, Carpenter, and Benefits Counselor for the VA in Salt Lake until he retired in 1996. In addition to his employment, Bruce built four family homes! Hobbies also included reading, model boat and plane construction, church service, and time with family. He particularly loved the board game Aggravation. He also loved to share his special citrus punch at all family and church gatherings.

Left to cherish Bruce's memory are his son Bill (wife Patti) of Denver, Colorado; daughter Therese (husband Bob) Allen-Vassar of Chicago, Illinois; son Clinton (wife Monica) of Corning, Iowa; daughter Kristi (husband Troy) Atwood of Louisville, Kentucky; son Irvin (wife Karin) of Salt Lake City, Utah; son Martin (wife Cheryl) of Salt Lake City Utah; 16 grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Bruce is preceded in death by his parents, Irvin and Alice Wilson Allen; his wife Nadine Fowler Allen; his sister Sandra Tebbs, and granddaughter Leelyn Atwood.
