Born September 3, 1942, at Landville, he was a son of the late Dennis and Ivy Burgess Ellis. Also preceding him in death was one grandson, Willard Ray "RayRay" Sanders, and five brothers, Joe, Sammy, Ray Laurel, Owen, and Elliot.
Donnie was a disabled coal miner and was of the Baptist faith. He was a great and loving husband, dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 47 years, Janice Parsons Ellis; one son, Eugene Ellis of Landville; four daughters, Jennifer (Kenny) Toler and Barbie (Mike) Chapman, both of Accoville, and Linda Johnson and Ruth Ellis, both of Landville; seven grandsons, Little Donnie (Amy) Ellis of Landville, Todd (Cortnie) Sanders of Huff Creek, Brandon (LaDonna) Ellis of Man, Nicky Weber of Accoville, Steven Johnson and Justin Johnson, both of Connecicutt, and Johnathan Hager of Taplin; one granddaughter, Brittany Michelle Weber of Accoville; five great-grandsons, Hunter Sanders, Devon Sanders, Ethan Ellis, Hunter Scott and Darrell "Scooter" Toler; one great-granddaughter, Jordan Paige Gillispie; three brothers, Bobby Ellis and Arland Ellis, both of Landville, and A.J. Ellis of Florida; one sister, Mamie Gannon of Reynoldburg, Ohio; many nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
At his request his remains will be cremated and buried at the feet of his parents.
