When the 1860 census was taken, Boardman and his family were living in Dallas County, Texas where he was working as a farmer.
Eli R. Boardman served in the Confederate Army in Co. A, 31st Texas Cavalry. He enlisted March

Boardman ran the hotel in Grapevine in 1880 at the time the census was taken and he was a member
of Robert E. Lee Camp of United Confederate Veterans in Fort Worth.
Family sources say Boardman died of influenza on January 14, 1892 in Grapevine, Tarrant Co.,
He and his wife had 5 children.
