Richard L. "Dick" Boman, 79, Iola, died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001, at the Allen County Hospital.
He was born Dec. 31, 1921, in Bayard, Kan., the son of Hugh and Ellyn Staley Boman.
He grew up in rural Moran and attended Moran High School. He served with he U.S. Air Force during World War II.
On May 10, 1944, he married Charlene Limes at Chanute Field, Ill.
After six years in the military, he worked for 11 years in radio maintenance for Kerr-McGee Oil Industries in Sunray, Texas.
In 1959, the family moved to Iola and Boman managed the Boman Service Station. He later worked as a maintenance man for a nursing home organization, retiring in 1984.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church, the American Legion Post in Moran, and the LaHarpe VFW.
He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Nancy Saving and Martha McKinney, both of Chanute; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m.-8 p.m. Friday at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel, Iola.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel, led by Lloyd Houk. Burial will be in the Moran Cemetery.
