Gertrude Pearl Summers, age 63, of Westland, Michigan, died June 7, 2008. She was born on October 25, 1944, to Estal and Gertie (Jenkins) Allen, both deceased. She was married to Forest Summers, who preceded her in death.
Gertrude was born and raised in the Iberia community and moved to Michigan in her early adult years.

Those who survive her include her children, Billy Joe Summers and Holly Mae Summers; two grandchildren, Billy Shane Summers and Hally Pearl Summers; her boyfriend, J. C. Carrington; brothers and sisters, Thomas George Allen, Mary Jane Jensen and husband Dick, Goldie Ann Block and husband William, Steve Allen, Don William Allen and wife Marie, Jimmy Dean Allen, June Kay Pulford and husband Michael, and Mark Jim Allen; one sister-in-law, Alice Allen; and sixteen nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Darrell Wayne Allen in 1962 and Estal Ed Allen in 2006.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 13, at Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Rev. Greg McClain will officiate. Interment will be in Union Cemetery near Iberia.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home
