Anna Maria was one of ten children (6 daughters and 4 sons) born to Andreas and Anna Margareta Gießuebel Flasch. Of the four boys, only one, Kilian, survived infancy.
The Flasch family sold their farm in Bavaria and sailed to the United States in May 1847. Johanna, who was 2 years old, died during the voyage and was buried at sea.
Anna Maria's siblings included Sister M. Laurentia Flasch, SSND; Sister M. Petra Flasch, SSND; Sister M. Kiliana Flasch, SSND; and Bishop Kilian Flasch, 2nd Bishop of the Diocese of La Crosse, Wisconsin.
Anna Maria married but died childless.
