Born in Denain, Nord, France the son of Joseph Desire Bury and Cecile Brique. Immigrated to the U.S. in 1899 joining his sister Felicie Bury Senechal and her husband Henri. Alfred's death notice in the Pittsburg, Kansas newspaper under the heading "DIED" says "BUREY- In- Pittsburg, at city hospital, Sept. 10, from injuries received in mine, Fred Burey, of Chicopee, aged 32 years."
