Rhona immigrated to Canada in 1946 when she was 13 yrs. old, with two sisters, Helen (a war bride) and Vina, where they settled on the Crossman family farm south of Balcarres, Saskatchewan, Canada.

Rhona married Robert Allan Farrell (known as Allan) on August 15, 1953 in Balcarres. After their first daughter was born, they relocated to Moose Jaw where their next two daughters were born.

After Allan died in 1962, Rhona married a long time family friend, Douglas "Doug" Sinclair Kay, in December 1963. After the marriage, the new family moved to St. Lambert, Quebec where Doug lived.

Rhona was a long time member of St. Barnabas Anglican Church in St. Lambert, an active member of the Anglican Church Women's group, a former Sparks leader and a very active member of The Order of the Eastern Star.

Rhona was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Eliza Marshall, her first husband, Robert Allan Farrell, her second husband, Douglas Sinclair Kay, brother-in-law William "Harry" Crossman, and brothers David, Robert, Norrie, and Albert all of Scotland.
