LOIS A. ADAMS, a long time resident of Lexington, Michigan died on June 25, 2011. She was 79 years old.
Born on July 16, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Lionel and Anna (Lukonen) Hilton, Lois grew up in Detroit, where she was a graduate of Cooley High School and a part of the school's swim team.
Following high school she worked at a local grocery store as a cashier, and it was at the grocery store that she met Edward Adams, a butcher at the store. They fell in love and married on August 19, 1950, at St. Mark's Church in Southfield Township.
They made their home in Detroit, then Livonia and finally moved to Lexington in 1966. Lois and her husband loved the Lexington area, where they enjoyed Lake Huron and the boating, fishing, swimming and waterskiing it afforded them. In past years, she belonged to a local writer's club and submitted Lexington news to the Jeffersonian newspaper.
She enjoyed many crafts, especially her needlework. Lois was a singer, her life filled with music. She sang with the Sweet Adelines as a young woman and in several different church choirs over the years, including the Westhaven Baptist Church choir in Port Huron.
Lois was an active member of the Lupus Foundation and supported many charities as well as the local Christian radio station. Her family will forever remember her profound proclamation of her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Lionel & Anna Hilton, brothers, Bruce, Ronald, and Gordon, her husband, Edward, in 2010, and a son, Jason Adams. She is survived by her daughters, Deborah (Ron) Marek of Milford and Gail McClure of Lexington; son, Matthew (Beverly) Adams of Croswell, seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and a brother, Paul (Pat) Hilton.
A Funeral Service will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty, Milford, on Thursday, June 30, at 11AM with the Rev. Jeff Volpe officiating. Friends may visit Thursday 10AM until the time of service. Burial Oakland Hills Cemetery, Novi.
