Frederick John Johanning, 81, of Mound City died Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008, at his home.
He was born Nov. 2, 1926, in Baldwin, the son of Daniel William and Johanna Augusta Kamenberg Johanning.
He owned his own truck line for 22 years until 1965. He then worked for Marathon Steel and Core-Slab.
On Aug. 24, 1947, he was married to Lee Shirley Anderson in Selma. She died Jan. 8, 2008.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mound City, where he was active on numerous committees. He was a charter member of Kincaid Lions Club, member of the Sugar Valley Lakes Senior Golf Association and Teamsters Union.
He is survived by four sons, Fritz J. and his wife, Penny, Blue Mound, David L. and his wife, Kim, Prescott, Darrel D. and his wife, Malinda, Laveen, Ariz., and Paul A. and his wife, Cheryl, Glendale, Ariz.; two brothers, Herman, Tonopah, Ariz., and Franz, Raytown, Mo.; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A son, Daniel Warren, and three sisters, Lydia Marriott, Clara Dufrene and Lois Schroer, died earlier.
Cremation has taken place.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Mound City. Inurnment will be in the National Cemetery in Fort Scott.
Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at the church.
