Gary was born in Williamsport, PA, the son of Dean and Edyth (Moyer) Dawes on December 11, 1946.
He was a 1964 graduate of Williamsport High School and was an Air Force Veteran.
Gary worked for the Grit, AVCO, Twin Oaks Nursery and retired from PenDot. He also played in the City Softball League and was an avid outdoorsman. He was a member of the Lucky 12 Hunting Club (Tioga County) and was also a caretaker of Beech Valley Cemetery.
Gary was the beloved husband of Jean L. (Bridgland) Dawes with whom he celebrated 20 years of marriage on July 29th.
Gary was the loving father of three children:

Jerri (Lance) Rook of South Williamsport
Timothy (Amy) Sandell of Ephrata.
