the youthful and gay, the aged and worn.
One of God's angels invaded the Thurmond family and carried away the sweet spirit of our dear sister, Mrs. Beatrice Thurmond Adolph, to live with Him in that home not build with hands; but whose Maker and Builder is God.
Beatrice was born to the late Mr. William Thurmond and Mrs. Pinkie Thurmond on October 16, 1909.
At an early age, she joined the Union Paradise Missionary Baptist Church and served faithfully until she moved to St. Louis, Missouri, where she united with the Greater Pleasant Green Missionary Baptist Church.
Beatrice was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Morgan Hodges. To this union, one son was born. Later, she was united in marriage to Mr. T. J. Adolph, who preceded her in death several years past.
As time passed, she became lonely and ill, and she moved back home to Lexington in 1969. After returning home, Beatrice joined the St. Paul Church of God in Christ under the pastorate of the late Elder Percy Deacon, Sr. and served faithfully until death.
Beatrice leaves to cherish her homegoing: a loveable and devoted son, Mr. William Lawrence Hodges of St. Louis, MO; a grandson, David Louis Ward, St. Louis, MO; eight sisters, Mrs. Ethel T. Beauchamp, Jackson, MS, Mrs. Erma T. Saffold, Durant, MS, Mrs. Elma T. Torry, and Mrs. Evia L. Haywood, Lexington, MS, Mrs. Martha T. Siggers and Mrs. Mary T. Williams of Kirkwood, MO, Mrs. Willie T. Wright, Chicago, IL and Mrs. Katheryn T. Jones of Champaign, IL; two brothers, Mr. Curtis Thurmond, Sr. of Chicago, IL and Mr. James Thurmond of Marvell, AK; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Pallbearers were: Willie Earl Wright, Michael Wyatt, Booker T. Beauchamp, Mark Ware, Arthur Earl Saffold, and Otha James Torry.
Porter and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
