(2/28/08) 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. with the family receiving friends on Thursday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. all at the funeral home. Memorials to United Pentecostal Church, Fremont. The funeral for Caryl E. Agena, 62, of Hooper will be 11 a.m. Friday at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont.
He died Monday, Feb. 25, 2008, at Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.
He was born May 3, 1945, in Omaha. He grew up in the Adams area and later moved with his family to Klamath Falls, Ore., and then to Rapid City, S.D. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War from Oct. 29, 1963, to Aug. 17, 1966. After his discharge, he moved to Seattle for a time and then returned to Rapid City. In 1968, he came to Fremont and in 1969 returned to Rapid City. He moved to Nickerson in 1970 and then in 1992 to rural Hooper.
He married Jacqueline Kwyzla on April 20, 1968, in Rapid City.
He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7419 of Nickerson.
Survivors include: his wife; a son, Edgar Agena of Fremont; two daughters, Patricia (and husband, William) Lang and Anne Jeanette (and husband, Todd) Painter, all of Fremont; his parents, Edgar and Jean Agena of Adams; a brother, John (and wife, Sallie) Agena of Syracuse; two sisters, Glenda (and husband, Ken) Kluck of Vale, S.D., and Sandy (and husband, Lee) Felmet of Vale, N.C.; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by grandparents.
The Revs. Roger Wagner and Phil Alley of United Pentecostal Church in Fremont will officiate Friday?s service. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Thursday and 9-11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with family receiving friends from 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Fremont Honor Guard of VFW Post 854 and American Legion Post 20 at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.
A memorial has been established to United Pentecostal Church.
