Mayme Gail Davis 94, died Thursday April 15 1993, at the Franklin United Methodist Home, Franklin, Ind.
She was born Oct. 2, 1898 in Letts, the daughter of Horace and Amanda Hedrick Taggert. She resided in Warsaw Ind., Lawrenceburg, Ind., and finally in Franklin. She married Howard "Billy" Gilford Davis on May 4, 1918, in Hattiesburg, Ind. He preceded her in death on March 28, 1984.
She graduated from Letts High School in 1916 and attended Depauw University, Greenscastle, Ind. She was a music teacher. She taught piano privately, and taught in public schools at Mermon, New Lebanon, and Greensburg. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Franklin, and the Prescilla and Home Circles of the church. She was a past Matron of the Milford OES, Milford, Ind., and of the Warsaw OES 88, Warsaw, Ind. She sang in the Home Choir at the Grace United Methodist church and has directed several church choirs during her life.
Survivors include her daughter, Judith Waldon, Oak Park, Ill; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Wright Memorial Chapel, Franklin United Methodist Home with the Dr. Mike Katayama and Dr. W. Ted Murphy officiating.
Graveside Rites will be at the Mt. Aerie Baptist Church Cemetery, Greensburg at 1:15 p.m. Friday.
Visitation will be at the Chapel from 9:30 a.m. Friday until the time of the service.
Memorials may go to the Special Care Unit of Franklin United Methodist Home, 1070 W. Jefferson St., Franklin, Ind. 46131.
The Vandivier-Tudor Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
