Solicitor and Coroner for North County Derry.
He was born in Co. Tyrone, Ireland
Collapsed and died on the stairs leading from his offices in Shipquay Street, Londonderry. He had been ill for some time. He was admitted as a solicitor at the Trinity Term in 1895 and for many years was in partnership with John A. HAMILTON.
His wife was Caroline LEFROY (who was born in Co. Wicklow and later died at Ard-Aluinn Strandview Road Ballycastle) and they had two daughters, Miss Caroline Lefroy Courtenay AIKEN and Miss Margaret Kathleen Miller AIKEN (Barrister at Law)- She was the first ever lady barrister in Northern Ireland.
His wife was an assistant Commissioner of the Girl Guides.
He died aged 56 years.
He and Caroline LEFROY married in 1901 and in the 1911 Irish Census they were living at 10, Clarence Avenue, Londonderry with their three children, Frances, Caroline and Margaret.
