William Andrews was born in May, 1833, in Ohio, the son of James and Rachel Howey Wase Andrews. On October 28, 1883, in Shelby County, Illinois, he married Isabella Elizabeth Valentine Poteet, daughter of Levi B. and Lydia Smith Valentine, and widow of Isaac Poteet. William had been previously married twice (to Ruth Lynch & Eliza J. Pingerton), so Isabella was his 3rd wife. They were they parents of two daughters: Laura M. (died young), and Cora Bell Andrews. William passed away April 2, 1912, in Tower Hill, Shelby County, Illinois, and was buried in Robinson Creek Cemetery, Shelby County, Illinois.

"STATE OF ILLINOIS, Shelby County. Certificate of Record of Marriage. I, J. T. ZIMMER, Clerk of the County Court of said County, hereby certify that Mr. William Andrews was married to Isabel Poteet in said County on the 28th day of October A.D. 1883, by M. P. Lane, a Justice of the Peace....IN WITNESS WHEREOF I have hereunto subscribed my name and attached the seal of said County Court, at my office in Shelbyville, this 6th day of May, A.D. 1912. J. T.
